Assistant Principal
Initial Placement - Middle School
The Batavia City School District is seeking an instructional leader to join the Middle School team. The successful candidate will assist the Middle School Principal in areas to which they are assigned with particular emphasis on student behavior, attendance and curriculum improvement.
Assistant Principal expectations as advised by the Principal:
Act as a liaison between the school administration and students, staff, parents community groups, and the community at-large
Monitor, support and respond to student behavior including discipline, mediations and restorative practices
Collaborate with staff to report student attendance and develop interventions to address excessive absences and/or tardies
Conduct observations of professional staff and evaluations of support staff
Communicate with outside agencies/programs supporting students and their families (e.g. Department of Social Services, the City Police Department, Genesee County Mental Health, Genesee County Probation Department, Genesee County Family Court, Genesee County S.T.A.R Program)
Participate in grade level/team/department meetings, parent-teacher conferences, MTSS and CSE meetings and others as requested
Facilitate curriculum development, revision and evaluation by consulting with each academic department
Advise staff members of their various duties and responsibilities
Develop and organize the Student Handbook
Solicit feedback from students about various issues and/or concerns
Conduct safety drills, fire drills and assist with building security
Complete other responsibilities and tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Salary:
NYS Certifications as a School Building Leader (SBA), School District Administrator (SDA) or Permanent School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS)
Minimum of $80,000 - 12 month position - consideration given to experience
Benefits as per the Batavia Administrators’ Association contract
