The District identifies technology as both: i) a subject area within the curriculum and, ii) a tool for teaching other elements within the broader curriculum. The incumbent will apply his or her expertise in both P-12 curriculum and in technology to develop a seamless curriculum in which each enhances the teaching of the other. The Director will do so with input from various stakeholders, and will ensure that all affected and contributing parties are unified toward a common goal.

Plan, coordinate and approve daily activity for technology related personnel

Review and implement recommendations from a variety of sources including Comptroller Audit, Internal Risk Assessment and Technology Department Functional Review

Collaborate with administrative team and teachers to embed Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards in daily instruction

Increase equitable access to high quality digital resources and standards-based, technology rich learning experiences that align with Next Generation Learning Standards

Identify, develop and provide access to relevant and rigorous professional development to ensure staff are proficient in the integration of learning technologies

Establish and chair Instructional Technology Committee to develop and implement a shared vision of technology

Review, implement and update Instructional Technology Plan

Maintain current inventory of all technology equipment and software

Sustain a secure network to ensure sufficient, reliable high-speed connectivity

Make budget decisions in alignment with district priorities, including management of external funding sources such as E-Rate and Smart Schools Bond Act

Forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies

Authorize and manage deployment, monitoring and maintenance of hardware and software

Manage support desk and work order system to ensure high-quality and timely technical support

Serve as the Data Privacy Officer - supervise any activity related to this position

Meet regulatory requirements regarding the safeguarding of information

Identify, develop and provide access to relevant and rigorous professional development to ensure staff are proficient in the integration of learning technologies

Assess the district’s information collection, recording, reporting and communication needs
